What helps
- Take in the morning: with 6–8 hour duration, late dosing risks disrupting sleep
- Wind-down routine from 9pm; avoid caffeine after midday
- If sleep is affected, try shifting dose 30 minutes earlier
What helps
- A mild wear-off effect is expected: the 70% extended component gives a gentler descent than 100% IR
- Plan lower-demand activities in the late afternoon
What helps
- The gentler IR component means onset and offset tend to be smoother than 50:50 or 100% IR
- Note timing relative to your dose: useful information for your prescriber
- If wear-off is causing daily difficulties, discuss at your next review
What helps
- Eat before your dose: appetite suppression builds with the IR component kicking in
- Evening typically brings the best appetite return for your main meal
What helps
- Expected pharmacological effect: monitored at every review
What helps
- Hydration is the most effective fix: aim for 6–8 glasses of water daily
- Paracetamol or ibuprofen are safe alongside methylphenidate
What helps
- Take with food to reduce GI side effects
