I work in ADHD assessment and medication management. My clinical background includes secondary care (hospital), primary care (GP) and specialist ADHD care, where I have gained my experience managing ADHD and other mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety.

I created ADHDnotepad to help you understand ADHD medicines and prepare for conversations with your prescriber. The guides bring together clinical evidence and practical explanations in clear, manageable sections.

Why I created ADHDnotepad

In clinic, I regularly meet people who have started ADHD medication without enough information about their treatment. Others have been given written information but have found it difficult to understand or apply. And, as is common with ADHD, some were given the information but have since misplaced or forgotten it.

That leaves important questions unanswered: how does this medicine work, what should I expect, and when should I ask for help?

People often turn to social media to fill those gaps. Personal experiences can be valuable, but advice online can also be misleading or difficult to put into context.

I wanted to create somewhere you could find clear, evidence-based explanations and return to them when you needed to.

The aim is to help you feel informed, recognise questions worth raising and take part in decisions about your care.

Why this project is personal

I live with ADHD myself. That means I care about how information is presented as well as what it says.

A page can contain the right answer and still make that answer difficult to find. Long paragraphs, unfamiliar terms and scattered information can make understanding your treatment harder.

That is why ADHDnotepad uses short sections, practical explanations, summaries and visual comparisons. You can start with the essentials and explore more detail when you want to.

My clinical experience informs the information I share. My lived experience shapes how I present it. My experience of ADHD is only one perspective, and yours may be different.

Who the site is for

The medication guides are for people starting treatment, adjusting their medication or wanting to understand an established prescription.

They also aim to support parents and carers, GPs and other clinicians involved in ADHD care.

As the site develops, I want it to offer more support for people exploring whether they may have ADHD or adjusting to a recent diagnosis.

How I approach the information

ADHDnotepad.com is a free, independent educational website. It is not a clinic, a product or a service.

I draw on official product information, the British National Formulary, national guidance and relevant clinical research. Specialist sources help inform topics such as pregnancy and breastfeeding.

My aim is to make that evidence understandable while keeping the detail that matters. Where an answer depends on your circumstances, the guides help you identify what to discuss with your prescriber.
